Baby Pope

On January 11th 2018, I got a call from my family doctor with my blood test results which indicated that I was pregnant. Happy doesn't even begin to describe how I was feeling. Carl and I were both just so excited and we just couldn't stop smiling. This is something we've both wanted and we both feel so blessed and can't wait to meet this little baby and just love it and care for it with all that we got. I truly believe that this is a gift from above. I've knows couples who have been trying for months and years to get pregnant and some couples get pregnant right away. I remember praying about it and just trusting God. My period was only 2 days late and some people would say you are crazy to take a pregnancy test that early but I had a feeling. I knew I was pregnant. Since then its been so amazing growing this little baby inside my body.

Cape Town, South Africa
First Trimester - 10 weeks pregnant

My 1st trimester was spent by working my last month at the dental office and then traveling to South Africa. Only Carl and I knew and we wanted to keep it that way till we got back from our honeymoon in Cape Town. Carl and I would always joke that it would be really cool if I got pregnant while in Cape Town because we just love that place, but God had other plans and I was already pregnant.

First Trimester Symptoms

  • cramping, mostly on the right side of my abdomen

  • very sore breasts

  • no morning sickness

  • early mornings were a bit tough, was feeling a bit light headed but it would go away shortly

  • on and off appetite

  • loved eating toasted bagel with fried egg, cheese, tomato and cucumber, also home made chicken noodle soup

  • only body changes noticeable were in the chest area and some days my belly just felt bloated

I know that everyone is different and has different experiences with their pregnancies but I feel so lucky that I had such an amazing first trimester and was able to travel to the other side of the world and not experience any morning sickness or vomiting. It was such an incredible experience being in such a beautiful place and knowing I was pregnant and baby Pope was with me. Will never forget that.
